Help for rail industry on cutting pollutants from diesel engines
An EU-funded project has demonstrated that it is economically and technically challenging for rail operators to replace or retrofit older diesel locomotives to meet tighter emission limits on pollutants. Market incentives should be provided to speed-up the switch to new, cleaner technologies, the project recommends.

The CleanER-D Final conference was held on 20 November 2013 in Brussels.
Sustainability and Innovation Seminar “Towards greener and cleaner rail diesel vehicle”
The Sustainability and Innovation Workshop was held on 5th June 2013 in the city of Turin in the former FIAT facilities of Lingotto.
CleanER-D will be present at UIC Sustainability Conference 2012
CleanER-D will be presented on Day 2 (dedicated to technical issues and parallel sessions of the UIC Sustainability Networks) of the UIC Sustainability Conference, during the parallel session devoted to Emissions.
This session to be held on 26th October from 09:35 to 11:30 will feature a short presentation on the results achieved so far by the CleanER-D project, focusing more particularly on the results achieved regarding the emission reduction aspects of the project.
CLEANER-D will be present at InnoTrans 2012
The project will be showcased from 18 to 21 September 2012. During the InnoTrans 2012, CLEANER-D is organizing a Presentation and Cocktail. The event will take place on 19 September from 17h00 to 18h00 at the UNIFE Stand, Hall 4.2, Stand 103.
The event will feature a short presentation on the CLEANER-D progress. This is a great opportunity to meet and discuss with some of the project partners.
CleanER-D Mid-term conference
The conference was jointly hosted by project coordinator UNIFE, the European Rail Industry and the International Union of Railways (UIC) together with 23 CleanER-D partners. CleanER-D is a project partly funded by the European Commission to develop, improve and integrate emissions reduction technologies for diesel locomotives and rail vehicles.

CleanER-D at InnoTrans 2010
The project consortium is organising a CleanER-D welcome reception during InnoTrans 2010, in Berlin. The event takes place on Tuesday 21st September at 17:00 at the UNIFE stand in Hall 4.2, Stand 120.
It will feature a short presentation on the project progress. There will also be the opportunity to meet and chat with some of the project partners over a drink.
